The Civil Wedding Ceremony
Civil wedding ceremony is held in every country which keeps the population registry with their marital status. In most countries the religious wedding is considered separately from the civil, hence the necessity of registering such fact. In Slovenia these ceremonies are mostly held in the town halls or in other wedding official places and are being performed by the mayor. The ceremony usually takes about 20 minutes, the language is Slovenian so you’ll need a translator. You’ll also need two witnesses with their passports or IDs. By the end of the ceremony the couple and witnesses are signing the act of marriage, and are handed several copies of wedding certificate, which confirm the validity of the wedding for all the world.
This kind of wedding ceremony is most popular, for no previous marriages or religious views are issue. If you decide to have a civil wedding in Slovenia, it is good to arrive in place 3 days before, to finalize your documents.
